lizzie is trying, an alternative pop rock project by Lizzie Zink, is doing exactly what her name suggests, trying, while also encouraging others to do the same. Based in Columbus, Ohio, Lizzie’s project is all about unearthing and addressing what it truly means to be human, the good and the bad, even if it inevitably gets complicated and messy. With a paradoxical blend of hope and angst, she turns her lived experiences into explosive, cathartic songs centered on the themes of navigating mental health, physical illness, heartbreak and what she calls “general humanness.”

Lizzie’s anthemic, sing-along choruses and brutally honest lyricism collide, forming the emotional core that defines this project. Although lizzie is trying’s foundation is the songwriting, the magic of this project is revealed through the performances. Creating a space where connection is at the forefront, Lizzie’s performances are driven by her desire of giving people a show where they can experience the full range of what it means to be alive. Where dancing, singing, screaming, laughing and crying are all encouraged, lizzie is trying’s shows leave people feeling more human and a little less alone.
